He has been a Certified Public Accountant for more than fifty years; is a graduate of the top management course of the American Management Association, past chairman of the Dallas Chapter and North Texas Region of the Texas Association of Business, and a deacon for more than thirty-seven years at the First Baptist Church in Dallas. He has served as Chief Financial Officer of several corporations, having retired in 1994. He and his wife, Winkie, taught teenagers in various Baptist Sunday schools for more than twenty-five years.
